Harvest Festival At St James' Church

Whole School

12 October 2015

On the 5th of October, Years One to Six, celebrated Harvest Festival at St. James’s church. It started with the chorus Harvest, with music written by Year 6 pupils, Felicity, Inha & Amy. The whole school then presented their harvest gifts of food and toiletries. Next, Year One sang Bean Harvest followed  by Year Five singing Cotton Needs a-Picking and afterwards came Year Three with their South African Gum Boot Dance (in their wellington boots!), which they had developed themselves. The Junior Choir sang next with Eat Your Greens and Year Two with their violins performed Chocolate Treats. Then Heather’s singers sang Carry the Corn. As we had donated goods for the Kingston Food Bank one of their lovely staff named Jillian told us how grateful they were. They have collected ten times the size of Tolworth Towers in green crate boxes in four years! After that Senior Choir sang John Rutter’s arrangement of All Things Bright and Beautiful followed by Year Four’s song In the Bin. This was accompanied by the school orchestra and the Violin Club. The final song was a hearty tune: Paint Box and the congregation were invited to join in with the singing. Once again thank you all for bringing in harvest gifts and supporting this worthy cause.
