On the 18th of May Year 5 and 6 went on a five day residential to Hooke Court in West Dorset. We left The Study at around 6:30 am. Our first destination was Charmouth, where we did fossil hunting lead by a guide called Phil. The best thing of all was that we got to keep the fossils! After a packed lunch, which we brought with us, we got back on the coach and headed to Hooke Court. Once we arrived at Hooke Court we were given our rooms. The rooms were all named after flowers for example: Daisy, Bluebell, Buttercup and Primrose. After a dinner of Pasta Bolognaise, we went on to do our team building activity lead by Jill. On Tuesday, we started the day to cereal and toast. Our first activity was to prepare our lunch. We had to gut a fish, make a pizza, bread rolls and Dorset Apple Cake. It was delicious. Later we went to a dairy farm owned by Helen and Kevin, we got to see all the different cows and how they are milked. We also got to see three lambs that they own. We really enjoyed our time there and certainly learnt a lot. Our evening activity was a night walk, where we saw lots of interesting wildlife. After a similar breakfast the next day, we prepared for our River Studies activity. We were led by a very knowledgeable teacher called Nigel. We went to two different parts of a shallow river and managed to successfully cross profile them (getting the image you would see if you cut it in half).  After that we had lunch of sandwiches at a local fish farm. We then had a rather tiring trek back to Hooke Court. That evening, we were again led by Nigel for Balloon Buggy making. At the end we had a race, which Ansh won! On Thursday, we did Forest Orienteering, which involved lots of Map reading. Later that day Richard, a teacher at Hooke Court, was teaching us how to make tripods and a sort of harness to carry things across a river. That evening we had Search and Rescue as our activity. We were given a scenario which we had to solve using lots of clues. That evening we packed our suitcases ready for the next day. On Friday, our final day at Hooke Court we got on the coach straight after breakfast. We stopped off at Durdle Door where, we were again led by Richard. We explored the many cliffs and rocks. It was really amazing! After having a look around, we had lunch and went over to an ice cream shop and Gift Shop. We bought our souvenirs and got on the coach. We arrived at The Study at about 16:00.
